Privacy Policy
Effective: September 4, 2026
Balance Board is operated by Strike Group LLC d/b/a Balance Board (“Balance Board,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Trust requires treating people’s information responsibly.
For us, that starts before security policies, encryption, or legal requirements. It starts by asking a simpler question:
Do we actually need this information?
We believe privacy is easier to protect when unnecessary information is never collected or retained in the first place.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Balance Board collects, what we intentionally do not retain, why we use information, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
If you have questions about your privacy or this policy, contact us at support@balanceboard.work.
1. Our Approach to Privacy
Balance Board is designed to help you explore something that can be very personal: where you might work next and what you want from that work.
We do not believe using a job search service should require building an unnecessary profile of your interests, concerns, or career plans.
Our approach is to:
- collect information when we need it to provide, secure, operate, or improve the service;
- avoid collecting information simply because it might be useful someday;
- retain information only as long as it continues to serve a reasonable purpose;
- be clear about the information needed for features you choose to use;
- use established providers for sensitive functions such as payment processing rather than unnecessarily handling that data ourselves; and
- give you reasonable control over information associated with your account.
Privacy is not something we consider finished. As Balance Board grows, we will continue looking for ways to provide useful features while collecting less information, not more.
2. Your Searches and Job Views
We think this deserves its own section.
When you perform an ordinary search on Balance Board, the service necessarily processes your search criteria in order to return results.
We retain limited product analytics for searches you explicitly run. This may include a sanitized search phrase, selected filter values, whether Plus access was available, whether the search succeeded, the number of results returned, a broad response-time range, and the calendar date.
These analytics are not stored with your account, session, IP address, request ID, browser details, or referrer. Obvious email addresses, phone numbers, and web addresses are removed from search phrases before storage. Search analytics expire after 730 days.
When a job's details are opened, Balance Board may add one to an anonymous cumulative view count for that job. The browser reports at most one view for a job during a browser tab session. The count is not stored with an account, session, IP address, or other viewer identifier. It remains only while the job record exists.
We use these records to understand which searches are useful, identify gaps in job inventory, improve search quality, and develop features such as helping people discover jobs that have received less attention. We do not use them to create a history of what a particular person searched for or viewed.
Searches You Intentionally Save or Schedule
Some Balance Board features allow you to intentionally save, schedule, or otherwise preserve search criteria. Those features are different.
If you ask Balance Board to remember a search or run it again later, we need to retain the information necessary to provide the feature you requested. We will treat that information as account information and use it to provide the saved or scheduled feature.
You remain in control of searches you intentionally save and can remove them using the tools provided by Balance Board.
3. Information You Provide to Us
Depending on how you use Balance Board, you may provide us with information such as:
- your email address;
- account identifiers and authentication information;
- account settings and preferences;
- information you intentionally save within Balance Board;
- scheduled searches, alerts, or similar configurations you create;
- companies or opportunities you intentionally save, hide, avoid, or otherwise organize;
- subscription selections;
- messages you send to our support team;
- information you provide when requesting a refund, privacy request, or other assistance; and
- other information you intentionally provide through a feature of the service.
We try to avoid asking for information that is not necessary for the feature you are using.
4. Account and Authentication Information
When you create or use a Balance Board account, we maintain information needed to identify and authenticate your account and provide account-based features.
This can include your email address, internal account identifiers, authentication records, account status, permissions, and security-related information.
Passwords and other authentication credentials are handled through our authentication systems and security controls.
We do not need your password for customer support and will never ask you to send your password to us by email.
5. Subscription and Billing Information
If you purchase Balance Board+, we maintain information needed to manage your subscription.
This may include:
- your subscription status;
- the plan you selected;
- payment and renewal dates;
- amounts charged or refunded;
- transaction identifiers;
- payment-provider customer or subscription identifiers; and
- information needed to resolve billing issues.
Payments are processed through third-party payment providers.
We intentionally rely on established payment providers rather than building our own system for storing sensitive payment card information.
Balance Board does not need to store your full payment card number or card security code in order to operate your subscription.
The payment provider may collect and process information directly under its own privacy policy and terms.
6. Information Generated When You Use Balance Board
Like most online services, our systems and infrastructure process some technical information when you use Balance Board.
Depending on the service involved, this may include:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- operating system or device information;
- timestamps;
- pages or features accessed;
- authentication and session activity;
- request and response information;
- error and diagnostic information;
- security events; and
- general usage information, such as whether a particular feature was used.
We use this information for purposes such as operating the service, maintaining security, troubleshooting problems, preventing abuse, measuring reliability, and understanding how Balance Board is being used.
We do not need to turn every interaction into a permanent record tied to you.
7. What We Intentionally Do Not Need
Our privacy approach is also defined by what we choose not to retain.
For example:
- we do not connect ordinary search analytics to your account or use them to create a personal search history;
- we do not need to store your full payment card number or card security code;
- we do not keep a record connecting you to jobs you considered simply because they appeared in results or you opened their details; and
- we do not need to build an advertising profile based on what kind of work you are looking for.
If a feature requires information to be retained because you explicitly ask Balance Board to remember something, such as a saved or scheduled search, we will retain what is needed to provide that feature.
8. How We Use Information
We use personal information for reasonable purposes connected to providing Balance Board, including to:
- create and maintain your account;
- authenticate you and protect your account;
- provide features you request;
- maintain saved preferences and configurations;
- operate Balance Board+ subscriptions;
- process and reconcile payments and refunds;
- send scheduled notifications or alerts you request;
- provide customer support;
- communicate important account, billing, security, or service information;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
- diagnose technical problems;
- maintain and improve service reliability;
- understand aggregate service usage;
- comply with applicable legal obligations; and
- protect Balance Board, our users, and others.
We try to use the least amount of personal information reasonably necessary for these purposes.
9. Job Applications and Employers
Balance Board often helps you get closer to the source of an opportunity by directing you to an employer’s application process.
Unless a Balance Board feature specifically tells you otherwise, we do not submit your job application to the employer and do not receive the application you submit on an employer’s website.
When you leave Balance Board and visit an employer, applicant tracking system, or other third-party service, that service has its own privacy practices.
The third-party site may also receive standard technical information from your browser or network when you visit it.
You should review the privacy practices of the employer or application provider before submitting personal information to them.
10. When We Share Information
We do not share personal information simply because another company might find it useful.
We may share limited information when reasonably necessary with service providers that help us operate Balance Board.
Depending on the services we use, these providers may support functions such as:
- hosting and infrastructure;
- authentication and account security;
- payment processing;
- email delivery;
- monitoring and error reporting;
- security and fraud prevention;
- customer support; and
- other operational functions.
We expect service providers handling personal information on our behalf to use it for the services they provide and to protect it appropriately.
Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- comply with applicable law or a valid legal process;
- respond to lawful requests from government authorities;
- investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
- enforce our Terms of Service;
- protect the rights, safety, or security of Balance Board, our users, or others; or
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We will not voluntarily provide more information than we reasonably believe is necessary for the request or situation.
Business Changes
If Strike Group LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, information associated with Balance Board may be transferred as part of that transaction.
If such a change materially affects how your personal information will be handled, we will provide notice when appropriate or required by law.
11. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
Balance Board does not sell your personal information.
Our business model is not based on selling information about job seekers.
We also do not want your job-search activity to become an advertising profile used to follow you around unrelated websites.
We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising based on your activity across unrelated services.
If our practices ever materially change, we will update this policy and provide any notices, consent mechanisms, or opt-out choices required by applicable law.
12. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Balance Board may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies where needed to operate the service.
These technologies may be used for purposes such as:
- keeping you signed in;
- maintaining secure sessions;
- remembering preferences;
- preventing fraud or abuse;
- providing features you request; and
- understanding whether the service is operating correctly.
We do not believe every possible piece of browsing behavior needs to be tracked.
If we use non-essential tracking technologies that require notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide the appropriate notice and choices.
13. Communications
We may send communications necessary to provide and protect your account, including:
- account verification messages;
- password or security notices;
- billing and subscription messages;
- renewal or cancellation information;
- important service notices; and
- notifications you specifically request.
These operational communications are different from marketing messages.
If we send optional marketing communications, you will be able to unsubscribe using the method provided in those messages.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary account, security, billing, or transactional communications.
14. How Long We Keep Information
We do not believe information should be kept forever simply because storage is inexpensive.
Different information needs to be retained for different amounts of time.
For example:
- ordinary search analytics: retained without viewer identifiers for up to 730 days;
- job view counts: retained as a cumulative count without viewer identifiers while the job record exists;
- saved or scheduled information: retained while needed to provide the feature or until you remove it;
- account information: generally retained while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward when needed for security, legal, operational, or account-recovery purposes;
- subscription and transaction records: may be retained as necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal obligations;
- security and technical logs: retained for periods reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and system reliability; and
- support communications: may be retained while needed to resolve the issue and maintain reasonable records of customer service interactions.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we aim to delete it, anonymize it, or allow it to expire according to our systems and retention practices.
Information may remain temporarily in backups or other systems designed for disaster recovery until those copies are overwritten or expire.
We may retain limited information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, enforce agreements, resolve disputes, or protect the service.
15. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect the information entrusted to us.
Security is an ongoing process, not a one-time feature.
No online system can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or other security incidents will never occur.
If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate and provide notices when required by applicable law.
You can help protect your account by using strong authentication practices and notifying us at support@balanceboard.work if you believe your account has been compromised.
16. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
We want people to have reasonable control over information connected to them, whether or not a particular privacy law requires us to provide every right described below in every jurisdiction.
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- know whether we process personal information about you;
- request access to personal information associated with you;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of personal information;
- obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
- opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising, sharing, or profiling activities where applicable;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; and
- appeal certain decisions involving a privacy request where applicable.
Balance Board does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising as described in Section 11, so there may be nothing for us to opt you out of for those particular activities.
How to Make a Request
To exercise a privacy right, contact us at:
Please tell us what you are requesting and provide enough information for us to identify the appropriate account or records.
We may need to verify your identity before providing, correcting, or deleting personal information. We will only request information reasonably necessary for that verification.
You do not need to create a new Balance Board account solely to submit a privacy request.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain why when required and tell you about any available appeal process.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
17. Authorized Agents
Where applicable law allows it, you may authorize another person to submit certain privacy requests on your behalf.
We may need to verify the agent’s authority and, when permitted, confirm the request directly with you before acting on it.
18. Universal Privacy Signals
Some browsers and tools allow you to send privacy preference signals, such as a recognized universal opt-out mechanism.
Where applicable law requires us to honor such a signal, we will do so.
Because Balance Board does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising as described in this policy, an opt-out signal may not change how the service operates for you.
19. Children’s Privacy
Balance Board is designed for people exploring employment opportunities and is not directed toward children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner that is not permitted by law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Balance Board, please contact us at support@balanceboard.work.
20. International Users
Balance Board is operated by Strike Group LLC in the United States.
If you use Balance Board from outside the United States, information necessary to provide the service may be processed or stored in the United States or in other locations where our service providers operate.
Privacy protections and legal requirements may differ between countries.
Where applicable law provides you with additional privacy rights, those rights are not limited by this policy.
21. Third-Party Services
Balance Board may link to websites and services operated by employers, applicant tracking systems, payment providers, or other third parties.
Their privacy practices are their own.
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed by Balance Board. It does not control how an employer or other third party handles information you provide directly to them.
22. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Balance Board continues to grow, and our privacy practices may evolve as the service does.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our technology, features, service providers, legal obligations, or privacy practices.
If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we will provide reasonable notice through Balance Board, email, or another appropriate method when required.
We will update the effective date at the top of this policy whenever it changes.
We will not quietly rewrite this policy to make a materially different use of information without providing any notice where notice or consent is required.
